What airport-to-airport air freight means

Airport-to-airport air freight covers the flight movement and the agreed origin handling between the named origin airport and destination airport. It suits customers who already have a consignee, customs broker or delivery arrangement at destination, or who want those services quoted separately.

Your written quotation identifies the exact handover points and what is included. Unless specifically added, airport-to-airport service does not include collection from the shipper, import clearance, destination terminal or storage charges, customs duties or taxes, or delivery from the arrival airport.

Nothing is assumed. Each quotation separates air freight, origin charges, optional services and costs payable at destination.

How an airport-to-airport shipment works

1. Send the details

Give us the origin, destination, commodity, pieces, weight, dimensions and ready date.

2. We assess the route

We check airline acceptance, routing, chargeable weight, documents and special handling, then issue a written quotation.

3. Cargo is prepared

The cargo reaches the agreed origin facility. Packing, labels, screening and export requirements are completed before handover.

4. The cargo flies

We issue or coordinate the air waybill, monitor the booked movement and report airline schedule or routing changes.

5. The consignee clears or collects

The consignee or nominated agent completes import clearance, pays destination charges and collects the cargo unless separately quoted.

What we need for an accurate quotation

  • Package count, type, gross weight and dimensions of every piece
  • Whether packages are stackable
  • Commercial value, currency and country of origin
  • Ready date and any genuine deadline
  • Details of batteries, liquids, aerosols, chemicals, magnets or restricted contents
  • Collection, customs, destination clearance or delivery requirements

Air freight is normally priced on chargeable weight, using the greater of actual weight and airline-calculated volumetric weight. The quotation shows the final chargeable weight and included cost lines.

Customs and dangerous goods need an early check

For Great Britain exports, the exporter may need a GB EORI number and an export declaration. Dangerous goods are accepted only after the commodity, route, packing and airline requirements are checked. Give us accurate product information, UN number and class where known, quantities and packaging details before booking.

Frequently asked questions

Can you send cargo between any two airports?

We cover major international airports and selected overseas origins. The route depends on airline service, cargo type, dimensions, restrictions and capacity.

Is airport-to-airport the same as door-to-door?

No. Airport-to-airport ends at the agreed destination-airport handover point. Collection, import clearance and delivery can be quoted separately where available.

Who clears the cargo at destination?

The consignee or nominated customs broker is responsible unless destination clearance is included in our written quotation.

How is air freight charged?

Airlines use chargeable weight: the greater of actual gross weight and volumetric weight calculated from the package dimensions.

Can you carry dangerous goods or lithium batteries?

Potentially, but only after checking classification, quantity, packaging, route and airline rules. Send full details before packing or booking.

What documents will I need?

Commercial shipments normally need a commercial invoice and packing list. Export declarations may also require an EORI number, commodity code, values, origin information and applicable licences or certificates.

Can you arrange collection or delivery?

Ask with the enquiry. Collection and destination delivery are separate from the core service and are included only when written into the quotation.
