Packing guide, restricted items and FAQs
How to pack so your cargo arrives intact and clears without delay — and what needs a check before you bring it in. প্যাকিং ও নিষিদ্ধ পণ্যের নির্দেশিকা।
How to pack a box for air cargo
- Use strong double-wall cartons. Supermarket boxes and thin single-wall cartons split under airline handling. Ask about cartons at the office.
- Keep each box to a liftable weight. Airlines set a per-piece limit for personal cargo; heavy boxes also get damaged more. We confirm the current limit when you book.
- Fill the gaps. Loose space lets contents shift and crush. Use clothes, paper or bubble wrap so nothing moves when you shake the box.
- Wrap liquids and creams separately in sealed bags. Leaks contaminate other boxes and can get a whole shipment held.
- Tape every seam with wide packing tape — top, bottom and edges. Strap suitcases; lock zips.
- Label clearly. Receiver’s name, full address and phone number on the top and one side. We add the air waybill label at the office.
- Make a contents list per box. Customs need it and it protects you if anything is questioned.

Restricted and prohibited items
Air transport has strict rules, and Bangladesh customs has its own. This is guidance, not a complete legal list — when in doubt, ask before you pack. Undeclared restricted items are found at security screening; the shipment is held and relabelled at the sender’s cost.
Cannot go in personal cargo
- Cash, gold, jewellery and other valuables
- Flammable liquids and gases: lighters, lighter fluid, camping gas, fuel
- Explosives, fireworks, ammunition, weapons and replicas
- Illegal drugs; alcohol to Bangladesh
- Perishable fresh food, meat, live plants or animals
- Pornographic or politically sensitive material
Must be declared and checked first
- Anything with a lithium battery — phones, laptops, power banks, toys, e-cigarettes, cordless tools
- Aerosols and pressurised cans — deodorant, hairspray, shaving foam
- Perfume, aftershave, nail varnish and other alcohol-based cosmetics
- Medicines — see below
- Electronics in quantity and new goods in commercial quantities — duty and import rules apply
- Engines, tools with fuel residue, paints, chemicals
Many of these can still travel as properly declared dangerous goods — see dangerous goods.
Sending medicines to Bangladesh
Families often need to send medication home. Some medicines can be sent with the right paperwork; some are controlled or not accepted by airlines at all; some need temperature control that ordinary cargo cannot provide. We therefore check every medicine request individually — the item, quantity, prescription or pharmacy documentation, the destination rules and the airline’s acceptance — before we agree to carry it.
To ask: use the quote form and choose “Medicines”, or WhatsApp us the medicine name, strength, quantity and a photo of the prescription or label. A member of staff will reply with what is possible. Please don’t bring medicines to the office before we’ve confirmed.
